Lipotherme™
Lipotherme™
Lipotherme, or laser lypolysis, is a completely safe, FDA-approved, effective, minimally invasive procedure that uses the Lipotherme™ laser to liquefy and remove unwanted fat in specific areas of the body. The procedure is performed by our Board Certified Physician, who uses the Lipotherme laser to create a thermal effect within the targeted area, causing the skin to tighten. This process results in a firmer, smoother appearance of your skin, and a better overall body composition.
About Lipotherme
Heat has been historically used as a tool in promoting overall health and well-being. Lipotherme utilizes this tool in a revolutionary way, with heat-generating lasers that break up and liquefy unwanted body fat to help reshape and re-define your body.
The two root words, lipo and therme, both Greek in origin, collectively mean fat, or fatty tissue, and units of heat. So, Lipotherme is defined as the controlled application of heat to break down fatty tissue.
Through the evolution of years of research, done to determine the most ideal methods for targeting and eliminating unwanted fatty areas of the body, Lipotherme was ultimately developed by a team of European researchers. To date, thousands of patients have experienced positive results and toner, leaner bodies as a result of their Lipotherme treatment.
Clinically speaking, the term for the Lipotherme procedure is laser-assisted lipolysis, or laser lipolysis, or laser lipo, for short. This procedure evolved from traditional liposuction, which is a considerably more invasive procedure, and involves more downtime afterwards.
With Lipotherme, most patients need virtually no downtime, and are capable of resuming normal activities the day after their procedure. However, it is important to remember to wait several days before resuming any strenuous activity, like exercise.
During your consultation with your doctor, factors such as your personal body goals and your overall physical condition will be factored into your treatment plan. It may be determined that Lipotherme can be used exclusively to achieve your desired effect on the target areas, or your doctor may suggest combining both Lipotherme and traditional liposuction therapies.
Lipotherme is typically used to remove unwanted fat from these target areas:
- Abdomen
- Waist (love handles)
- Back (bra line)
- Thighs (inner and outer)
- Hips (saddle bags)
- Face (chin and cheeks)
- Knees
- Arms (back of arms)
- Ankles
FAQs
What Are The Benefits of Lipotherme laser-assisted lipolysis?
Lipotherme is the perfect tool for eliminating the isolated areas of excess fat that regular diet and exercise will not remove. With the Lipotherme procedure, the pre-determined areas of unwanted fat deposits can be safely and effectively eliminated. The overall benefits of the procedure are the removal of fatty tissue from specific areas of the body, while tightening and firming the skin within the treated area.
Is Lipotherme the Same Thing as Liposuction?
Although Lipotherme and traditional liposuction are both considered extremely effective methods for the elimination of unwanted fat, Lipotherme laser lipolysis offers a much less invasive treatment, and can be considered an in office procedure, with a much shorter downtime in most cases. With traditional liposuction, the procedure is much more invasive, and can cause more bruising and bleeding with patients. Additionally, several days, or even weeks may be necessary for downtime, based on the individual patient's recovery process.
Unlike traditional liposuction, Lipotherme is highly effective in treating very small, targeted areas such as the bra line, under the chin, and above the knees or ankles. Depending on your individual treatment plan, and your overall physical health, Lipotherme is considered an excellent alternative to traditional liposuction. If your goals require additional treatments, your doctor may suggest a combination of both the Lipotherme and traditional liposuction procedures.
Your Individualized Treatment Plan
As part of your pre-procedure consultation, your doctor will thoroughly discuss your goals, explain the specifics of the procedure, and help you to set realistic expectations for your body. Your consultation will include a Body Mass Index (BMI) test. The results of your BMI, combined with other vital health information, are used to determine the potential outcomes of the procedure. This information will be used to determine the potential outcomes you should expect. Your doctor, or one of our trained staff members, will thoroughly brief you on all pre- and post-procedure precautions and expectations.
Most patients who've undergone the Lipotherme procedure to remove unwanted fat in targeted areas of the body have reported positive post-procedure results, including reduction in body fat and the instantaneous tightening of their skin. Results will vary, and are dependent on factors including, but not limited to: age, hormone levels, BMI and other health indicators.
The Lipotherme Procedure
After the physician administers a local anesthetic to numb the targeted area, he will insert a small metal tube called a cannula underneath the skin. As the doctor moves the cannula back and forth, a tiny laser beam triggers the fatty cells within the targeted area. The laser beam works to effectively heat the fat cells, creating a thermal effect. Because fat cells are highly receptive to thermal energy, they are liquefied, and easily aspirated (or suctioned) from your body.
Seeing Results
After most Lipotherme procedures, patients admit to seeing dramatic results within the first or second week after their treatment. Some patients have experienced even faster improvements in certain target areas, such as the neck and jaw. Given that each patient's body heals and metabolizes differently, results of a Lipotherme treatment can require up to 12 to 16 weeks before becoming completely visible. After that timeframe, continued improvement is evident for several months.
Will I Require Any Follow-Up Procedures?
In most cases, Lipotherme procedures are only one-time treatments. This is because in adults, fat cells cannot grow back once they’ve been removed. If you experience a weight gain following your Lipotherme treatment, the buildup of excess fat will accumulate in areas other than those that were specifically treated. In few instances, your physician may recommend an additional touch-up treatment, if he is not satisfied with your overall results after they are achieved.
What, If Any, Recuperation Time Is Expected?
Following most Lipotherme procedures, most patients report that they are comfortable and recovered enough to resume their normal activities the day after their treatment. However, it is expected of all patients that they forego any strenuous activities and exercise for several days after the treatment.
Who Should Avoid the Lipotherme Procedure?
As part of your pre-treatment process, your doctor will instruct you to complete a patient questionnaire, which includes a list of all current prescription and over-the-counter medications you currently take. He will do a thorough review of your complete medical history prior to scheduling the Lipotherme procedure.
This aggressive preparation will help to rule out and eliminate any potential interactions or health risks that might interfere with the procedure. Under no circumstances will we perform the Lipotherme treatment on any woman who is pregnant.
